Herma Shipyard Inc., has completed the marine engineering upgrade (MEU) and drydocking and other related repairs (DDORR) on BRP Artemio Ricarte, designated as PS37. The wide-ranging repair work included the alignment of the main propulsion diesel engines and reduction gear to the ship’s propeller shafts. The port and starboard main engines starting air control system was likewise restored, and the main propulsion control system was re-activated. Port and starboard reduction gears were overhauled, together with the replacement of the exhaust pipes of the main propulsion engines.
The newly maintained corvette-class warship will be given a ceremonial send-off on 6 October 2022, at the Herma Shipyard in Mariveles, Bataan. A mass will be celebrated at 0700H, with the official send-off ceremony to start at 0800H. Capt Nestor C Galindo Jr., PN (GSC), Commander of the Naval Shipyard (NSY), will be on hand to witness the send-off.
“These repairs and adjustments will ensure that BRP Artemio Ricarte is in tip-top shape to perform its task of safeguarding our waters,” Herma Shipyard COO Nathaniel Joquino said.
